	Xaphoon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Xaphoon (also known as Maui Xaphoon or Bamboo Sax) is a single-reed keyless bamboo wind instrument.
		The Xaphoon was invented during the 1970s by the American instrument maker Brian Wittman, who still makes all of his instruments by hand, using local bamboo cut from the forests of the eastern end of his home island of Maui, Hawaii.
		It is very similar in construction to the chalumeau, a keyless European single reed folk instrument that was the ancestor of the clarinet.

		He was a commander of a StuG III, a big step up from the armoured cars Wittman had used in his short experience in the Polish Campaign.
		The most recent book to study the subject is No Holding Back by Brian Reid, which provides a detailed topographical map of the engagement, and is benefited by extensive review of Allied and German records (the book is about Operation Totalise but devotes an entire appendix to the subject of Wittman's demise).
		Wittman's crews (chiefly gunner Balthasar "Bobby" Woll, also a Knight's Cross holder) are known to have destroyed at least 138 tanks and 141 artillery pieces, along with an unknown number of other armoured vehicles.

	Abu al-Abbas died at the American detention center
		The US defense department (Pentagon) announced yesterday the death of the secretary general of the People's Front For Liberation of Palestine, Muhammad Abbas (Abu al-Abbas), who has been in detention by the American occupation forces in Iraq since one year.
		The spokesman for the Pentagon, Brian Wittman, told reporters "preliminary reports says he died of natural reasons and it seemed that medical attempts did not succeed to save his life." Wittman refused to disclose the place where Abu al-Abbas had died.
		Another official at the Pentagon said that Abu al-Abbas was held in Iraq at his death.
