While Brick Township is located on the mainland, Beaches I, II and II are situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean.
Brick Township has also been in the news for an alleged autism epidemic, in which 40 children out of over 6,000 surveyed were found to be autistic, though Brick's autism rate is statistically not far removed from national average.
Brick Township is bordered to the north by Howell Township and Wall Township, both in Monmouth County; to the west by Lakewood Township, to the east by Point Pleasant, and to the south by Dover Township (Toms River).

Brick Township, New Jersey, a town of about 77,000 residents, is located approximately 60 miles north of Atlantic City, just a few minutes from the Atlantic coast.
Because the exact number of 3- to10- year old children living in Brick Township in 1998 was not available, we estimated the denominator by adjusting the 1990 census count of 7,117 by a 25% inflation factor.
Although we did not have specific information about the changes in the Brick Township population over time, we do know that about one third of the families with children with ASD who were included in the study moved into Brick Township sometime after their child’s birth.

And the defendant in question has a prior history of having the Brick Police refuse to deal with loud noise on his street and complained of being the victim of Police brutality in the past.
It is despicable that the Brick Police Department can cater to the will of one man with such a flimsy complaint of harassment and stalking when so many women in dire need of help from abusive male companions go unprotected.

Brick operated Bergen Iron Works, which was located in present day Lakewood Township, from 1833 until his death in 1847.

In late 1997, a citizen’s group in Brick Township, New Jersey (NJ), provided results of a survey to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services that suggested that the number of Brick Township children with autism could be potentially several times higher than expected based on available prevalence rates for the disorder.
CDC assistance was requested because of the complexity of investigating a behavioral disorder such as autism and the fact that CDC was developing epidemiological methods that address the unique challenges of autism.
