I was shooting from the Wawona Tunnel, one of the most traditional places to photograph the Valley.
But then I became aware of the gorgeous and gentle sunset light falling on the Fall and changed lenses to isolate just Bridalveil and its "hanging valley." As often in photography, less is more.

Amazing the difference in the falls between June and October.
The May lake pics were from Sunday and started at the trail head just above 2500 meters and ended at the lake at about 2800 meters, according to the map the park hands out, fun hike and as noted worth the price of admission.
It seems the park is using late fall to start the controlled burns..
