The influence of Electronic Music in Rock Music, 1967-76
A nice example of those long-sounding notes is composed of the sustaining Em7 and related chords of the Robin Trower song Bridge of Sighs, from the album of the same name.
In Lucky Man, Emerson just added a short doodle of Moog lead at the end of the song, with a bit of glide on it, and rock history was made with “the first featured lead synthesizer solo”.[i] On the same album, other electroacoustic music techniques were used, such as tape speed variations in Knife-Edge.
One of the most pertinent examples would be Pink Floyd’s albums and especially Dark Side of the Moon, in which musique concrète vignettes are used in-between songs.

NothinButDaBlues February '01 Spotlight Artist: BIG GEORGE & THE BUSINESS
George crafted his early guitar skills during his time with vocalist/bass player James Dewar (formerly bass player in Stone The Crows and The Robin Trower Band bass player and vocalist on 'Bridge of Sighs').
"...a continuation of the fine blues rock exhibited on their earlier albums...George has that...emotion strained voice that lends itself beautifully to the blues and he does seem to wring every bit of emotion...from these songs...a fine blend of powerful blues and emotion-filled ballads that make full use of piano and some quite exquisite saxophone work.
The Home of the Wolf CD album sees George in the vein of Van Morrison at his best and most emotional, and advance reviewers have stated that is the album that is going to put Big George on the musical map and is a great album.

 Stumbledown Romancer
James Dewar sang back-up on that Fisher album, of course; and the present collection is much more closely-related to that material than it is to the first Dewar / Fisher outings; here there is none of the moody blue spareness of Twice Removed from Yesterday or of Bridge of Sighs.
Dewar, they will argue, must have been a comparatively happy man, living with his family and riding so high professionally that Chrysalis was commissioning a whole album from him.
Dewar himself plays very little bass here (he was eventually freed from bass-playing duties to concentrate on singing with RT) and it seems clear that the album was intended to showcase his excellent vocal skills: he also handles all the backing vocals feelingly, which are nicely-arranged, though conventional.

Bridge Of Sighs was such a smash release in Detroit--which was and still is the Rock and Roll Capital Of The World--it got so much airplay because there were so many great songs on the album.
I believe on this album, he wanted to try different type of sounds from rock to the blues.
i believe he had so much more to offer us.i have and continue to sing in several rock and rock blues bands.i am not a professional, but am considered quite good (so i hear anyways)....with all the guitarists ive worked with, only one is able to play the trower stuff.

Robin Trower : Beyond the Mist - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Some redemption is established with his signature "Bridge of Sighs" at the end of the album, as Trower reveals his talents with a semi-spirited arrangement of his most famous piece.
The two studio tracks at the beginning of the album aren't ear catchers either, with "The Last Time" coming out on top because of its steam engine rhythm.
Sounding slightly murky and muddled, the five live tracks are short on Trower's guitar playing flair, and since he's not the most animated musician to begin with, these songs have an even harder time holding the least bit of attention.

In 1974, Robin Trower released "Bridge of Sighs," a collection of eight original songs that form as powerful a collection of music as any album of that time or since.
Robin Trower: "No. I remember being in the middle of doing it, I said to Matthew, 'How good is this album, do you think?' And he said, 'Well, it's not "Sgt. Pepper" but it's going to be very strong.' And that gave me a sort of sense that I'd done some good work."
Robin Trower: "(Matthew) did a great job producing the first couple of albums but we were lucky.

Get Ready to ROCK! Review of live concert/gig featuring rock guitarist Robin Trower at the Mean Fiddler,London 16 April 2005
The remainder of the set consisted of a couple more new songs, a long slow blues number, featuring another great Trower solo spot and then a further cut from ‘Bridge of Sighs’ to close.
Clearly appreciating the warmth of the crowd reaction, Trower thanked them and then introduced the title track of the new album.
Vocalist Davey Pattison took a break while Trower gave a case study in the playing of a blues solo, grimacing his way through a series of harmonic and making ample use of the whammy bar on his Stratocaster.

He has also assembled a balanced band to accompany his solo flights: Bassist James Dewar is a proficient soul-styled singer capable of admirably filling vocal chores without detracting from the guitarist's show.

Modern Guitars Magazine: Robin Trower Interview
The first few Trower albums: ‘Twice Removed From Yesterday’, ‘Bridge Of Sighs’, ‘For Earth Below’, and ‘Long Misty Days’ possessed extremely creative cover art, and, in a subliminal way, were somewhat suggestive of a common theme of space and volume.
With an extensive repertoire of classic hits and album-oriented rock to his credit, Robin Trower is one of very few authentic '60s and '70s blues-rock guitar heroes still keeping it alive today.
Recently, Robin released his long awaited first live DVD, recorded in Germany in March of 2005.
