When the original came out, the stars were hot from "SNL," and they had a hit album, "Briefcase Full of Blues." Now, so many years later, people know of the original but it's not high on anyone's wish list of films to see.
"The Blues Brothers," starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, came out at the height of their popularity, made a decent amount of money (for the time), and helped turn the TV actors into movie stars.
Someone obviously forgot that last part until now, eighteen years later, as the sequel finally arrives in the form of "Blues Brothers 2000." When I first heard of this project, I had serious doubts about the reasons for making the film, as well as its financial prospects.

Brillstein arranged for the Blues Brothers to be an opening act in a nine night gig for Steve Martin scheduled at the Universal Ampitheater in Los Angeles.

Belushi would succumb to a drug overdose in 1982 while Aykroyd continued on not only as a successful movie actor but with a revised version of the Blues Brothers featuring Belushi's brother Jim.

Aykroyd a Toronto native was a fan of the band, and chose to include two original Downchild songs on the wildly successful soundtrack album, Briefcase Full of Blues.
They were chosen Blues Group of the Year at the 1998 Jazz Report Awards, and won a 1998 Lifetime Achievement Award from the organizers of the Windsor-Detroit International Blues Festival.

It is on the movie called The Best of The Blues Brothers.
That scene of "Soul Man" can be found on either the SNL Best Of Dan Aykroyd or John Belushi DVD.
