The narrow channel of river that connects Thunersee with Brienzersee sits on an alluvial plain, which perhaps explains its light blue color due to its rich mineral deposits.
The boat, nicknamed Jungfrau (Young Lady) moved steadily along the channel into the wider expanse of Brienzersee.
The turquoise color lake is beautifully set in the midst of pine forested mountain slopes with views of the Faulhorn (2681m) and the Brienzer Rothorn (2350m).

Brienzersee Things To Do - Travel Guides - VirtualTourist.com
Giessbach waterfalls is a scenic area opposite of Brienz and it is certainly the best to get there by ship on Brienzersee, because the road to Giessbach is really quite narrow and also a bit dangerous with oncoming trafic, because only at a very few places 2 cars may pass by each other.
Today there is the highway also at the south of Brienzersee and it became rather easy to get there.
Brienz is not the most important town at Brienzersee, but it is certainly the most beautiful and romantic place, and a lot more interesting than Interlaken at the other end of the lake.

Interlaken is right in the middle between Brienzersee and Thunersee And both lakes are combined by the river Aare, but ships cannot go through all the way, as the river is partly very small and narrow.
I saw this sign posted on many of the old wooden houses, as the wind may blow away your thrown-away-cigarettes and the houses might easily catch fire.

The most important include Lake Geneva, Lake of Constance, Lake of Lugano, and Lake Maggiore (at which lies Switzerland's lowest point, 194 m (636 ft) above sea level), which are not wholly within Swiss borders; and Lake of Neuchâtel, Lake of Lucerne and Zürichsee, Brienzersee, and Thunersee, which are entirely within Switzerland.
On the plateau and lower valleys of Switzerland a temperate climate prevails, with a mean annual temperature of about 10° C (about 50° F).

Why don't you simplify things by just going straight to Brienz from the Zurich flughafen, and stay there for all four nights before moving on to Milan (if that's the plan).
From Brienz on Brienzersee, you've got a view of the Oberland peaks, and you can daytrip to Lucerne, Bern, Grindelwald, Wengen, Ballenberg, Thun, Oberhofen, and even Chillon on Lac Leman if you don't mind a long day on the train through the mountains.
I just noticed that many hotels are closed in the Swiss Alps region.
