Brig, again attacks, cooperating with one brigade of the 32d Div on the right, captures the Bois des Grimpettes and Hill 188 on the right, and holds the line from that hill to 1/4 km southeast of Moulin Caranda.
Aug 25, the 57th FA Brig is organized and ultimately includes the 1st Wis. FA, 1st Wis. Cav., and detachments of the 4th Wis., 6th Wis., and 31st Mich. Regts of Inf, and of Mich. Cav and FA.

Speaking on the occasion Brig Chauhan said that 484 gallant soldiers laid down their lives at the altar or the nation during Operation Vijay and 1900 after Independence.

3.1848 Brig "Victoria" of Aberdeen wrecked on Proudfoot, crew of six launched small boat in heavy swell and were washed up on rocks.
During a rescue attempt by Wick lifeboat, three of the lifeboat crew were washed overboard.
Crew of 32 and 5 passengers were rescued by rocket line as lifeboat stood by.

At Brig, it is necessary to exit the station to transfer to the BVZ (Brig-Visp-Zermatt) narrow-gauge line station in the street out front that will climb to Zermatt and the Matterhorn.
All of the tracks are occupied, these are all 1 or 2 car locals, all of different manufacture, and all painted in bright (but totally different) paint schemes with the destination a part of the road identifications.

The Ninth Air Force intended from the beginning that the IX Fighter Command should be primarily a training headquarters, preparing fighter groups for combat and aiding in the development of air support commands, of which there was to be one for each of the two US.

As late as April 1944 a number of IX AFSC depot and supply squadrons possessed as little as 5 to 15 per cent of their equipment, but the IX AFSC as a whole was more than 80 per cent equipped in March.

 Medical Training in World War II: Medical, Dental, Veterinary, and Sanitary Corps Officers
The change permitted a modest expansion: in contrast to the largest class in the preceding 5 years, 81 officers who graduated in 1935, 111 student-officers completed the basic course in 1940.
In August 1943, the course was lengthened to 5 weeks to allow a greater amount of basic training and field experience.
To make room at the Army Medical Center for an expansion of the course in tropical and military medicine, the roentgenology course was transferred to facilities leased in Memphis from the University of Tennessee, and established as the Army School of Roentgenology in December 1942.

Freetown ---The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Peter Chaveas, was welcomed on a visit on 18 December to the eastern towns of Kenema and Koidu by the Commander of UNAMSIL's Sector 5, Brig.
Brig.-Gen. Pasha briefed the Ambassador and his delegation on the improved security situation in the Pakistani Contingent's area of responsibility, which is from Koidu to Kailahun in the east, on the Sierra Leonean border with Guinea and Liberia.
The Sector 5 Commander gave a brief on the excellent working relationship between the battalions and non-governmental organizations rendering humanitarian assistance to the community.
