Brighton is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, situated between Seacliff and Glenelg and aside Holdfast Bay.
Some notable features of the area are the Brighton-Seacliff Yacht Club, the Brighton Jetty, and its excellent beach.
Over the years it has been dredged many times in order to replace the sand that has been washed away making the beach smaller and exposing rocks.

Michael Featherstone was an early settler in the Brighton South Australia, who came to South Australia on the ship "Hoogly" in 1839, with his wife Charlotte nee Cameron and two children, a son William Paul was born at sea, it is thought his first child, Sarah Ester died before they left England.
Early in 1843 he gave an acre of land in the north-east corner of his property on the Brighton Road frontage as a site for a church, which was built and controlled by the Congregationalists.
So closed the story of one of South Australia's "earliest and wealthiest families" who received so much unwanted publicity so long after all association with Brighton had ceased.

he Lions Club of Brighton Inc was formed in April 1966 when the World Championships of the 505 International Class Yachts were sailed off the beach of Brighton in South Australia.
These Championships were won by a Brighton boy in a Brighton built boat and so, the original members of the Club decided that it would be fitting for emblem of the Club to be a 505 yacht.
Since then, the Club has been very active in local an international community projects starting with the sponsoring and establishment of the Brighton Senior Citizen's Centre up to funding the Federation Pavilion in the John Mathwin Reserve locally.
