The Bring Your Own Film Festival (BYOFF) is a film festival started off in year 2004 in the beaches of the temple town Puri, in Orissa state of India.
However the timetable is not rigid; the organisers say the festival is open ended and will finish only when people want it to, subject to constraints of resources.
This year the festival is being held from 21 to 25 February, 2006.

How to Start Your Own Film Festival
As common, the film market outside of the United States led the trend, but it was the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah that paved the way for smaller festivals today, such as Slamdance, Taos Talking Pictures, Chicago Underground, and the Telluride festival.
Film is glamorous to a lot people too, and whether they have a lot or a little to give, the association with movies and movie stars helps them out too.
Not all festivals pay for everything listed here, but remember that filmmaking is an expensive medium, and the filmmakers may not be able to afford to come or they may be too famous to expect to come for free or for too little.

The festival hopes to fill a need to have a platform for creative interactions among makers of documentaries and shorts — genres for which India has few channels of distribution and exhibition.
BYOFF's timing adds to the voice of the film-makers who were shocked by overt and covert attempts at MIFF to censor films critical of government policy.
BYOFF could well be an answer to this need, especially if it is able to present annual editions in different small-town venues.
