BOB DYLAN: Bringing It All Back Home (Sundazed)   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Bringing It All Back Home shocked fans when it first came out with its raucous leadoff track (and Dylan's first top-40 single), "Subterranean Homesick Blues." Recorded in three short days in January 1965, Dylan broke all musical boundaries with this album, producing a remarkable collection of songs unlike anything else up to that time.
He may have made waves by 'going electric,' but the amazing thing about this album was that while it had the requisite folk tunes that fans expected, it also contained songs of introspection and paranoia, alongside beautifully poetic love songs--all within the confines of a single album.
From start to finish, Bringing It All Back Home is one of Dylan's most enduring statements, containing some of Dylan's greatest songs and performances.

They’re alumni of the Berkeley Bayit, which celebrated its 25th anniversary with a reunion Sunday and claims to be the nation’s oldest, continually running Jewish campus communal home.
What began as a small, informal student havurah evolved into a sort of urban kibbutz, a chain of life-long friends that has grown by a dozen per year into what now seems a huge family.
But while a few foundations had helped the board buy the bayit, there were no ongoing subsidies and Berkeley’s rent-control ordinance was making student housing easier to find; by the mid- to late 1990s, the bayit was struggling to stay afloat.

I had 90 days of shooting in what was for me pretty exotic territory, and yet as I was looking at the trees and the water, the sky and the clouds, I saw them in a way I’d never seen them before, even though I was born on Cape Cod.
So in addition to a love of photography and a love of travel, some other things were born that summer: a love of coming home and an appreciation of the visual beauty of things I often take for granted.
The photographs here are ones I took on Cape Cod—our home is in Chatham, Massachusetts—and I took them with the same care, attention, and sense of discovery I bring to any photo I take anywhere.

Anthrax: The least of the potential bioterror threats on the horizon, because a) it’s not contagious and b) the supply of compatible antibiotics is relatively plentiful and available from multiple sources.
In the wake of anthrax traces discovered in Pakistan, Germany, and Lithuania this week, the FBI has tilted back toward the theory that foreign perpetrators are the source of the mailings, even though it’s now clear that the particular strain being employed originated in U.S. military labs.
It’s a difficult matter for investigators because there is no assurance that the various anthrax mailers are necessarily connected: The historically lax controls on the acquisition of the bacillus make it impossible to tell whether the perpetrators in various locales have anything to do with each other.

His home in Nashville had burned down a few months earlier, the only things rescued with a mad dash into the flames being his guitar and his dope stash.
Willie was still pretty much of a honky-tonker back then, but his concert generated all the energy and intensity of the best rock ‘n’ roll with generally greater spontaneity, and it trashed all my smug illusions about country music.

But it is ourselves that we need to bring home, not some sugary dream of domestic perfection.

As the audience filters out of the theater, Jimmy remains in his coffin; a perceptive reminder that those who die in war are never to be seen or heard from again–no matter how much we applaud them.
