Another popular venture of the Ottawa Electric Railway was the opening of a pavilion at Britannia Bay where band concerts on summer evenings brought very large crowds of passengers in the cars.
In the early days before motor cars came into being, the company built a summer playhouse in the west end of the city "which at that time was very suburban and necessitated transportation by streetcar".
They ran for a short period, then the streetcars again took over.

This series of four and six-cylinder cars were manufactured up to the outbreak of The Great War.
During the years 1909 and 1910 they expanded into the adjacent premises, Britannia Works, which had previously been used by Brown, Marshalls & Company Ltd. who had built railway carriages and were also waggon builders.

Other early ventures also failed to achieve success: the Britannia Company of Colchester was a successful maker of lathes and engineering equipment and their 1896 catalogue listed a range of "Facile" motor carriages powered by their single-cylinder "heavy oil" engine, though it seems that only electric carriages and bathchairs were actually made.
But when Lawson, who had made a considerable fortune floating heavily over-capitalised companies on a gullible public, acquired Simms' company at the end of 1895, he relaunched it as a company whose purpose was the manufacture of motor cars.
Cars were certainly sold under the "Daimler" banner that year, but these were Continental imports: the first British-built Daimler didn't reach eager customers until early in 1897.

Clearly identifiable in the picture books are two Humber Super Snipes — a 1953 model and a 1948 model (as near as the experts can tell me), a very recent model Daimler, and a Land Rover which was photographed in Jamaica, New Zealand, Tasmania and mainland Australia.

Some of the rails and cars were shipped by the barge "Davis" to the Buckingham Plumbago Company on 10 October 1875, this company proposed to build a tramway from the mine to the Ottawa River.
May have been abandoned and left at Britannia after completion.
In 1915, the City of Ottawa was planning the construction of the Pretoria Avenue Bridge between Pretoria and Hawthorne Avenues and the access road on the east side of the canal would have cut across the by then GTR wharf and the siding.

Olsen's 8th Bayard, ex Olau Britannia (15 000 gt) was built at Bremerhaven in 1982, purchased in 1990, and was in the passenger route between Norway and Denmark, with a capacity for 2000 passengers and 500 cars.
Olsen's Baalbek as 2nd radio operator in June-1943 (till Sept.-1943), before signing on Alf Lindeberg in Oct.-1943 where she stayed till Dec.-1945.
Petter Olsen also had another Bayard, also a barque, built in Kristiansand in 1843, purchased by him in 1861.
