  British 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This military division was formed on April 1, 1908 as the West Riding Division in the Territorial Force of the British Army.
The division was disbanded (in Germany) in 1946, but reformed in the Territorial Army (in 1947), having been renamed the 49th (West Riding) Armoured Division.
In 1956, it was renamed the 49th (West Riding and Midland) Infantry Division, its base moved to Leeds, and the 8th Armoured Brigade was removed from its order of battle.

 Battle of the Scheldt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On September 21, the 4th Canadian (Armoured) Division moved northwards roughly along the line of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal, given the task of clearing an area on the south shore of the Scheldt around the Dutch town of Breskens called the "Breskens pocket".
In country unsuitable for armour, and against stiffening resistance, the Division advanced to the coast by September 20, occupying Terneuzen and clearing the south bank of the Scheldt eastwards to Antwerp.
The "Maisies" withdrew onto the Causeway on 2 November, to be relieved by a battalion of the Glasgow Highlanders of the British 52nd (Lowland) Division.

The majority of the 4th Infantry Division reached central and southern Iraq by January of 2006 while a detachment of 350 4th ID support brigade troops were deployed earlier, in September of 2005, to coordinate the transfer of the division’s equipment.
The Division was thoroughly involved in the training, testing, and evaluation of 72 initiatives to include the Division Capstone Exercise (DCX) I held at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California in April 2001, and culminating in the DCX II held at Fort Hood in October 2001.
The transformation of the 4th Infantry Division from a "legacy" division to a "modular" configuration is in tune with the dramatic changes being felt throughout the Army as it carries through and adopts its strategic vision for the future.

Wayne’s division moved close up to the rear of the British and encamped at the road junction by the General Warren Tavern, part way between the White Horse Tavern and the General Paoli, a tavern, named after a Corsican bandit.
In the face of the British charge the Pennsylvania troops were dispersed and driven out of the camp to the West, many through a gap in a fence along the edge of the encampment.

 49th Armored Division
The 49th Armored Division was reactivated on November 1, 1973, with its headquarters at Camp Mabry, Austin, TX.
The Division was to be comprised of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, a Russian Airborne brigade, a Nordic-Polish brigade, and a Turkish brigade.
The 49th was in command of a total of 6,900 soldiers including the Maryland Guard's 629th Military Intelligence Battalion, Army Reservists and active duty forces from the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment as well as foreign troops taking part in the operations such as Turkey, Poland and Russia.
