British movie-goers will get to vote for their favorite actors and films by filling out ballots that will be available at theaters, online and in newspapers and other publications nationwide this summer.
The first National Movie Awards will be presented in September during a two-hour, live event at the Royal Festival Hall, the Times of London reported Monday.

The first award (best TV Comedy Actor) was accepted by Matt, but then David "stole" it as Anne.
The second award (Best TV Comedy, oddly presented by Robin Cook and Brigitte Neilson) found David beating off opposition at the Office table and then both paying tribute to Myfanwy Moore and Tony Head.
The final award was the People's Choice, which was voted for by the public.

Matt Groening won an achievement award, Okay you may think I'm happy with the british comedy awards, my favourites won, well not all of them.
For a start the Boosh is much funnier than the cathrine tate show, surely thats the most important reason to win a comedy award, and secondly the Boosh is more original than a mundane sketch show (critics of little britain, I ask not to comment!).
Also the british comedy awards would of been a great public exposure for the boosh, due to the bbc2's idiotic scheduling the boosh is scheduled at 7pm on wednesdays, a terrible time to show comedy which is reflected in the viewing figures!

I recently watched the complete first season of a new British TV series named The Office (available on DVD).
It definitively belongs to the family of a new generation of British TV comedies, one of the most famous ancestor being Absolutely Fabulous.
As far as I can remember, the weekly broadcasting of episodes from classic British series like The Avengers or The Persuaders on public television was in France at that time like an immutable ritual, for years.
