Many of her paintings were exhibited and she designed for books, posters, scenery and postage stamps.
Following a parliamentary investigation into the efficiency of Imperial Airways and British Airways, it was decided in November 1938 to merge the two airlines and form BOAC, (24 November 1939).
The essential things in a postage stamp are the statement that the thing is a stamp (the words 'postage' etc), the denomination, and some sign that the thing has official origin, (the King's head, a crown, etc).

The pair of large-format stamps featured a lion in an imposings stance; they were issued twice, in 1924, and then in 1925, the stamps of each year being inscribed with the year of issue.
The century of the postage was celebrated in 1940 with a set of six depicting Victoria and George VI side-by-side.
British stamps were used at many of these colonies in their early years, and can be recognized from numbers on the postmarks.

In none of his early papers was the question of adhesive stamps mentioned, but this appeared later and led to the introduction of the first postage stamp, the Penny Black, on 6 May 1840.
Further sets of stamps were issued in 1929 for the UPU Congress, in 1935 for the Silver Jubilee of King George V and in 1937 for the Coronation of King George VI.

 GB 1 penny stamps
There are surprisingly few 1 penny stamps in the 165 years from the issue of the Penny Black in 1840 until today.
These are the 1924 British Empire Exhibition issue (GB's first commemorative), SG430, the 1935 Silver Jubilee SG454, and the 1940 Centenary of Postage Stamps issue, SG480.
The second stamp is an interesting variant, a German propaganda forgery, allegedly "produced at German Labour Camps" (according to Dauwalders, who have a large number available at the time of writing).

THE LINE-ENGRAVED ½d POSTAGE STAMP OF 1870 is one of the most-loved and widely-collected of Victorian postage stamps.
It was the first stamp that ever portrayed the effigy of a reigning Sovereign, and except for two minor instances which were quickly detected, the stamps were never forged.
The British Philatelist was published by Charles Nissen from 1908 to 1954 in forty volumes covering all aspects of GB philately.

As a cele-bration of the Coronation, a spe-cial exhibition was held at Crystal Palace called the 'Festival of Empire'.
After the Great Exhibition closed, it was purchased by a private company, and moved to a 200 acre park at Sydenham Hill in South London.
The stamps are not that common to find and we would suggest that not that many were printed.

I bought these stamps the other day a back of what looks like 5 rows of 5, and they are green with a 6 on each side in the middle with the nazi eagle spreading it's wings UNUSED and In perfect condition.
I have a collection of King George VI stamps which were used for Kenya, Uganda and Tanganika between 1945 and 1952 when they were British colonies.
It is unlikely that another set of these stamps could be found in North America, or, indeed, outside the United Kingdom.

This rate, reduced from 9d on the 1st December 1934 and in effect until the 2d Empire Air Mail Scheme on 30th June 1937.
The reduced 1½d Empire Airmail Scheme introduced three weeks earlier, when the use of Airmail labels became unnecessary.
With the onset of WW II, the Empire Airmail Scheme rate of 1½d was dramatically increased to 1/3 on the 7th September 1939 and remained so until May 1947.
