British Hillclimb Championship - Canon Digital Photography Forums
Spent the day down at Harewood Speed Hillclimb today, who were hosting the British Hillclimb Championship competitors again.
Saturday was one of the few opportunities when I've been in the right place with sufficient light to use the outer focus points on the 20D to accurately track the cars and hence be able to use the vertical format.
Harewood is the only hillclimb venue I've been to so far.

Adam Fleetwood - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He won the British Hillclimb Championship in both 2003 and 2004 driving a Gould, and in the latter year won an unprecedented 28 of the 34 rounds of the series.
However, it must be noted that his main rival, Graeme Wight Jr, did not compete at all (one or two guest appearances in other cars aside) in the second half of the year, as he was awaiting completion of a new car, which did not become available by the end of the season.
In April 2005, after a single unsuccessful outing at Loton Park, Fleetwood announced that family and other commitments (such as his preparation for a circuit race that summer) would preclude his appearance in the rest of that season's championship, although in the event he did compete in a small number of climbs.

To general astonishment, he entered the 1993 Scottish Hillclimb Championship in a re-shelled version of the Imp, and although he wasn't walking too well his driving was, if anything, even better than before.
The British Championship has been going since 1947, and since then it has gone through several periods in which a certain type of car becomes fashionable and tends to do all the winning, largely because it takes a while for anyone to think of something different.
