Parliament - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The British Parliament is often referred to as the "Mother of Parliaments," (in fact a misquotation of John Bright, who remarked in 1865 that "England is the Mother of Parliaments") because the British Parliament has been the model for most other parliamentary systems, and its Acts have created many other parliaments.
In the United Kingdom, Parliament consists of the House of Commons, the House of Lords, and the Monarch.
A nation's 'Prime Minister' is almost always the leader of the majority party in the lower house of parliament, but only holds his or her office as long as the "confidence of the house" is maintained.

Since the termination of British power from India the various bands of the Indian Army had to be re-oriented to render them truly Indian.
Gradually over the years a small group of composers sprang up who composed martial music appropriate for our Bands, based on the folk-lore of the regions which contributed most to the strength of the Indian Defence Forces.
Here the bandsmen of the bands of the various defence forces are given training in playing the various instruments used in the Military bands.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These deviations from the traditional rock and roll band formula were facilitated by the Beatles' decision not to tour, by their ability to hire top-rate session musicians, and by Harrison's burgeoning interest in India and Indian music, which led him to take lessons from sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
Although allegations were made by the British Broacasting Coroporation (who banned the song from airplay) that the song implicitly advocated drug use both McCartney and Lennon have flatly denied this claim.
The final session for the song, held on the evening of February 10, 1967, was to record the orchestral overdubs with a forty-piece ensemble, conducted by McCartney and drawn from members of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Political Philosophy [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
While some anarchists are pacifistic in their rejection of authority (drawing on Gandhi’s conduct against British rule in India), others condone the use of violence to secure their freedom from external coercion.
Socialists may thus either have to accept the persistence of continual redistribution of incomes and resources within a given band of tolerance, or to accept a permanent inequality of income and resource ownership once voluntary exchanges are allowed.
Regardless of the political direction that the anarchist leans towards (collectivism or individualism), how the anarchic community is to be secured presents philosophical problems that demand a close regard to possible inconsistencies.

 Alexander the Great
The British heavy metal band Iron Maiden had a song entitled "Alexander the Great" on their album Somewhere in Time ( 1986).
The song describes Alexander's life, but contains one inaccuracy: in the song it is stated that Alexander's army would not follow him into India.
Modern opinion on Alexander has run the gamut from the idea that he believed he was on a divinely-inspired mission to unite the human race, to the view that he was the ancient world's equivalent of a Napoleon or a Hitler, a megalomaniac bent on world domination.

On several occasions the RAF Tempests were called in on rocket attacks when some of the distant British garrisons came under attack by hostile tribes, but for the most part their mission was peaceful.
Typical of late-war RAF planes, this Tempest is finished in the dark green/medium sea gray camouflage, with sky codes and fuselage band.
