Nazi Germany, or the Third Reich, commonly refers to Germany in the years 1933–1945, when it was under the firm control of the totalitarian and fascist ideology of the Nazi Party, with the Führer Adolf Hitler as dictator.
The Nazis also undertook programs targeting "weak" or "unfit" members of their own population as well, such as the T-4 Euthanasia Program which killed off dozens of thousands of disabled and sickly Germans in an effort to "maintain the purity of the German Master race" (German: Herrenvolk) as described by Nazi propagandists.
The Nazi plan was to extend the German Lebensraum "living space" eastward, but their public pretext for launching war on Eastern Europe was "defense from Bolshevism".

The actual Nazi groups tend to pay homage to, but are often less focused on, the specific tenets of the German Nazi party than some international groups.
Nazi groups in the United States can trace back to the 1920s, with the US branch of the National Socialist German Workers Party.
However, soon enough it became clear that neither of these parties were capable of accomplishing any serious changes in the national policy, and indeed soon they came to be widely seen as having had "sold out" to the "anti-people regime" (anti-narodny rezhim, a label widely used by the Communists to refer to Yeltsin's government).

It explains why neo-Nazi, or neo-fascist groups like the BNP are a threat; how their heroes, the Nazi Party in Germany, managed to seize power in the 1930s and what we can learn from that today.
Today the BNP are using racism and prejudice against Muslims and against asylum-seekers to try to gain support because these prejudices have been increasing amongst a layer of people in Britain.
