In order to overcome possible drunken behaviour, the Gazette's awards will be presented early in the evening at the ceremony, to be held in the evening of March 27 at the Dorchester in London.
But most of the editors later agreed with the Press Gazette's viewpoint, that there was no better way of gaining proper publicity for the press awards without doing so through the trade magazine.

A rebel union of 11 senior editors is threatening to boycott the British Press Awards saying they have lost credibility, according to the Guardian.
They argued that the awards "brought little credit to the industry or to the newspapers who win them" and said the profession had been devalued by the naming of the News of the World as newspaper of the year.
At present the awards are organised by the trade magazine, Press Gazette, which depends on the profits from the event to keep afloat.
