This unit is one of 64 Class 377/1 "Electrostar" units operated by Southern, whose livery they carry.
The British Rail Class 377 "Electrostar" electric multiple unit was built by Bombardier (previously ADtranz) at their Derby Works, from 2001 to 2005.
The "Electrostar" family, which also includes Classes 357, 375 and 376, is the most numerous type of EMU built in the post-privatisation period of Britain's railways.

The C14 class 2-2-0Ts and S14 0-4-0Ts were tried on services, but push and pull operation really got going with the T and O2 classes of 0-4-4Ts which were displaced by the M7 class from the early 1930s.
Notes that the failure of the bogie on the W1 locomotive caused several of the H2 class to be withdrawn as they shared a similar bogie.
Some consideration is given to the Drummond development of the type for the CR and the LSWR, although the Adams' input for the latter (classes T1 and O2) is largely ignored, although there is room to consider the Forney type developed in the USA, and the twin locomotives used on the Transcaucasian Railway.

British Rail Standard Blue class 76 76 011 and 76 029 running light through Guide Bridge station, Greater Manchester in the last few days of active service by the class, on March 31, 1981.
The class 87 were built in time for the completion of the second stage the West Coast Mainline Electrification programme where the first stage brought through electric services as far north as Preston.
Some electric trains do have energy-storage capacity, for instance the class 74 had a built-in dynamo which was spun up in third-rail sections and then used to drive a generator when the train has to move through short non-electricified sections, such as when faced with complex junction layouts where electrification is impractical.

Class 156 have BSI (Bergische Stahl Industrie) outer couplers, and can work in multiple with Classes 142, 150, 153 and 158.
Historical notes: The Provincial Sector of British Rail, later renamed Regional Railways, soon became aware of the inadequacy of the Class 150 Sprinters, with their 3+2 seating, for longer-distance services, and an improved version with longer bodies (23m rather than 20m) was evolved in conjunction with the Metro-Cammell company.

They are yet to introduce the ex-Dapol Class 150/2 and, for the modellers from the 50s to the 90s and the preservation scene, they have their own Class 110.
One problem with the model is that members class underwent various modifications and so the model in its present form is correct for a limited number of finishes unless you are prepared to turn a blind eye.
As it is my understanding that the Hornby Class 50 is made in the in the same factory that produces the US Proto 2000 QSI Quantum Sound equipped models, I did mention to the Hornby guy that a sound-equipped Class 50 or Class 60 would be nice.

The London and Birmingham Railway opened between Rugby and Birmingham on 9 April 1838: Coventry was a first class station and was built with Bramley Fell stone from Yorkshire.
It noted that the locomotives of the Morayshire Railway were fitted with wedge-type snowploughs (6ft long and 2ft deep) and that brushes were fitted to the guard rails of the locomotives.
