 Land/Sea Level Change, Ireland
Sea and land-level changes have independently influenced the position of the shoreline in Ireland and the rest of the formerly glaciated world since the end of the Ice Age.
Land levels in areas that experienced glaciation have also changed profoundly as a result of crustal depression that accompanied loading of the ice on the earth's surface, and the land's subsequent rebound during ice melting.
Sea level has oscillated near the present coast for several thousand years, although the relative roles of sea and land-level changes are not quantified.

At present, with the exception of the Southern Ocean and to a more limited extent, the Mediterranean Sea and a small number of areas in the North East Atlantic, deep-sea corals and sponges found on the high seas on seamounts and along continental slopes are completely unprotected.
On the high seas south of Australia, in an area known as the South Tasman Rise, observers recorded trawlers bringing up an average of 1.6 tons of coral per hour in their nets in 1997 — the first year of the area's orange roughy seamount fishery.
This is why the Deep Sea Conservation Coalition has joined over 1,000 scientists from around the world calling on the United Nations General Assembly - the guardian of the high seas - to declare a moratorium on high seas bottom trawling (HSBT) to protect the majority of the oceans' little-known and largely unexplored deep-sea habitats.

British popular music maintained its ascendancy, as did British theater, particularly evident in the many performances of Shakespeare's plays and Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas.
Although the dominance of American rock and roll music was the most conspicuous feature of the British pop culture scene in the years after World War II, the long tradition of British performers thriving in the United States continued both before and after war as did the favorable reception of their American counterparts in Britain.
In the 1950s British rock groups tended to imitate American groups and re-record their most popular songs, a trend that was in some instances reversed in the 1960s, when American groups copied British songs, especially those by the Beatles.
