Operation Telic or Op TELIC is the codename under which all British operations of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq and after are being conducted.
Operation Telic is one of the largest deployments of British forces since WWII.
Some 9,500 of the British servicemen and women who deployed on Operation Telic for the invasion and its immediate aftermath were reservists, the vast majority of them from the Territorial Army.

The Scotsman - UK The true scale of British casualties in Iraq is revealed today after the Ministry of Defense confirmed that more than 2,200 injured British military personnel have been flown home from the Gulf since the start of the campaign.
The operation was eventually called off after the Italian president, Silvio Berlusconi, intervened to order the Italian commander to commit his forces to restore order in the town.
One officer estimated that the losses in such an operation would be expected to run at about 30 per cent, with fatalities expected to account for one in three of those casualties.

DOD Instruction 7730.22, ("Reports of U.S. Casualties in Combat Areas," January 20, 1967, and March 20, 1973) provided that the Vietnam casualties to be reported were all those occurring within the designated combat areas and those deaths occurring anywhere as the result or aftermath of an initial casualty occurring in a combat area.
On August 9, 2004, another British solder was killed in Basra during an attack and on August 12, another British soldier was killed as a result of an IED exploding, bringing the total of British troops killed in Iraq to 64.

In November 1990, when it seemed certain that it would be 4th Armoured Brigade that would deploy to the Gulf, Brigadier Hammerbeck, the commander visited Field Marshal Lord Carver DSO MC who commanded the Brigade in the desert in WW2.
Operation Desert storm was the name given to the Coalition campaign to liberate Kuwait and establish regional peace and security.
