Bucharest ­ The Britten Norman company is still waiting for an official answer from the State Ownership Fund (FPS), regarding the damages which the British company demanded after noticing certain material differences between the FPS' tender book and the actual Romaero situation, official sources inside the company stated for Rompres.
It seems that the problems between FPS and Britten Norman will be solved in the International Arbitration Court in Paris, the source added, mentioning that the British company intends to protect its interests in a manner which is to be elaborated.
Britten Norman signed in January 1999 a contract with FPS for taking over 72.9% of the share capital of Romaero.

Norman and John Britten joined forces in the late 1940s and their partnership led to the development of the ubiquitous BN-2 Islander and Trislander utility aircraft series and later the Defender military/paramilitary variant.
Desmond Norman, co-founder of Britten-Norman, died last week of a heart attack at the age of 73.
More than 1,250 of the aircraft have been sold, with over 800 still in service.

Britten-Norman Aircraft has been formed under the B-N Group to address Islander and Defender production requirements, and it has also begun assembly of a Trislander concept demonstrator, which will embark on a sales tour later this year.
A total of 85 of the 17 seaters had been delivered when production ceased in 1984, but these aircraft are beginning to run out of their airframe life, so interest in new-builds is increasing.
Furthermore, there are also plans to offer the popular nine-passenger “mini-airliner” version with diesel engines running on Jet-A1 fuel as an alternative to the Lycoming pistons that have powered the majority of the more than 1,250 Islanders produced to date.
