		Broadsword is not a bad album at all but it’s weak as compared to early work of the band and about the same quality with previous album “A”.
		I hate to say it but "The broadsword and the Beast" is basically a dumbed down version of 'Heavy Horses.' The irrespirable folk-structure of early Tull is diluted somewhat here but it shines through on a couple of moments, which coincidentally are the highlights of this album.

		I remember when "Broadsword and the Beast" was first released it contained the direction and confidence of the bands' early years whilst being diverse musically as more recent Tull music.
		This is one of Tull's best albums - whether splicing the mainbrace on Broadsword, wallowing in the pastoral yearning of Slow Marching Band, progging out on Seal Driver or synth-throbbing on The Clasp - this is an album as old as the hills and as futuristic as its 1981 heritage allows.

	Broadsword & The Beast by Jethro Tull CD
		The Broadsword tour in 1982 saw Tull out on a full production tour for the final time, although smaller tours have since taken place, they have not featured the elaborate stage set that went with this one!
		Broadsword saw former Cat Stevens drummer Gerry Conway join Tull for a couple of years and Dave Pegg (ex-Fairport Convention) join them for a second time.
		Much of the songs were written using the new-fangled electronic instruments which gives an interesting twist to the woodsy and folksy elements in the songs.

		Interesting to note is that judging by the cover of the album; it almost puts you back in timethe time of the Vikings for example.
		The music composed on a number of tracks such as 'Broadsword' and 'Beastie' will take you back to that time if you can imagine them.
		Ian Anderson surely must think highly enough of this album to re-issue it and most likely realized that this was a highlight in the group’s illustrious career.

		The music press took a favourable attitude to the album - for a Tull-album, that is. 'Broadsword' sold very well in Europe, esp. in Germany and is still one of the most wanted Tull albums ordered via the internet.

		Sadly the drummer of this tour also passed away in 2006 from a long battle with kidney disease.
		The next release was Broadsword and the beast in 1982, with a new guest drummer and keyboardist.
		The music was more synthesised influenced and less complex than the previous album, but still charted well due to to it's commercial sound and style.
