TTC chair Howard Moscoe is not so sure he wants to wait, saying it's too good an idea.
Broadview station was identified as a key candidate for elevators because about 27,000 people use it daily, and it connects to six surface routes.
The TTC is also adding a "move to the back of the bus" taped audio message to its bus fleet, piggybacking it on an automated stop announcement system being tested.

Transit Toronto - Content: What if the Queen Subway was built instead of the Bloor-Danforth?
Originally, the TTC had proposed a streetcar-subway along Queen Street, but increasing traffic on the Bloor streetcar made them take a controversial step and attempt to change their proposal to a subway beneath Bloor Street.
The end to the debate came when Metro Toronto pointed out that the TTC needed Council to subsidize new subway development to the tune of 5%, and thus the Bloor-Danforth proposal was overruled.
Streetcars disappeared from King Street, with Broadview continuing the route's eastern legacy and a new "Roncesvalles" route operating between Sunnyside station and Runnymede Loop on the west.

Eye Weekly - Saving public transit - 11.09.00
In the late '80s, the TTC had an annual ridership of 465 million, and 32 cents of every dollar it spent came from subsidies, including almost $100 million a year from the province.
Now the TTC is the only major transit system in North America that receives no funding from a state or provincial government.
For the new council, finding the money to save the TTC may entail increasing property taxes and bringing pressure to bear on the province to fund transit again.

Transit Toronto - Content: Route 504 - The King streetcar
Initially, the TTC cut service dramatically on King Street, believing that many passengers which had been transferring from the Bloor streetcar to King cars would use the subway to get downtown instead, but the TTC discovered that it had underestimated how many people would continue to use the line.
A more recent TTC study showed that the number of streetcar passengers outnumber car passengers and drivers on the street to the tune of two to one.
The TTC is set to work on revamping the Broadview and Dundas West loops to create passing tracks and separate loading platforms for 505 Dundas and 504 King streetcars.

BroadView allows ONESTOP traffic personnel to build complex schedules while also giving sales staff the capability to check avails at any time, which means advertising can be sold continually in a dynamic fashion to maximize revenues for ONESTOP and the TTC.
BroadView’s innovative, fully integrated approach also means substantial savings in staff time, which translates directly into ongoing operational benefits, month after month.

Torontoist: TTC Operators Turn Blind Eye, More Parking Fines, Cabbies Get Shields?
The union is complaining about the rising number of assaults and "passenger rage." TTC Chair Howard Moscoe says that people still have to pay their fares.
What also was interesting is that there was another TTC employee that got on the car and road it all the way to Broadview.
She said "And they complain and wonder when the fares go up!" I felt like piping up and saying "Yes, because we wonder why the TTC can't get it's act together and promote itself etc etc etc", but her attitude was such that I didn't feel like getting kicked off the car.

Greektown: Danforth Avenue between Broadview and Pape is known as "Greektown" for its abundant Greek restaurants, clubs, and shops.

The TTC is designed for passenger safety - yellow emergency strips in the subway cars, designated waiting areas with security camera and intercom on subway platforms, and an after-dark bus stop request system where women can descend from the bus between stops.

Thus, in your example, the King Car would be forced to wait for the eastbound Queen car to reach Broadview.  The operators can communicate with some central point.  That point could relay whether the streetcar has arrived at the point of interesection.
I like the TTC, in spite of itself, and I’ve heard its rationale for short turning cars before.  I’m not sure that I entirely agree with them, but what sort of business model is this?  Nobody wants a privatized TTC, but management really needs to smarten up.
I live on Broadview north of Danforth, and full southbound buses passing crowded bus-stops is becoming an increasingly regular occurrence.  I believe that the Flemiongdon Park and Cosburn routes need to be seriously looked at, as sevice on Broadview south from Cosburn to Broadview station is quite problematic now during rush hour.
