Mello Barros, Brockton's fifth kicker, calmly placed the decisive score past North Attleboro's Breandan Hamilton to seal a 2-0 shootout victory for the Boxers and send them to their second sectional final in four years.
It was the second penalty Barros has taken in his career, and it's a safe assumption that the circumstances regarding this one were more consequential than the one he took when he was 10.
Brockton's Jordan Branco and North Attleboro's Colin Flynn opened the shootout by hitting the same spot on the crossbar.

BROCKTON - The union representing nurses at the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association says hiring and retaining nurses has become increasingly difficult as the union approaches the second anniversary of the expiration of its contract.
Fay Alden, a nurse with the Brockton VNA for 23 years and co-chairman of the union’s negotiating team, said the nonprofit organization is down to 50 nurses from about 90 four years ago.
At Brockton, the per-visit rate is $29 a visit for a new nurse and $41 for a nurse at the top of the scale.
