Brokenbeat is a relatively new style of music that appeared in the late '90's.
Brokenbeat became a meeting point for all of these musical ideas, taking the syncopations of Drum & Bass, the bumpin'ness of House and the boom bap of Hip-Hop.
In fact in the early days of this music before the Brokenbeat tag took hold, it was conversely known as "House Not House" referring to it's House tempos and influence and it's syncopated, swinging rhythms as opposed to House's straight 4/4 beats.
Brokenbeat radio is a Philadelphia based online radio station.
It specialises in brokenbeatmusic and posts radio shows on a fortnightly/monthly basis by DJs such as Ayro, King Britt, Dogdaze, Intuit or other guest DJs.
The site was established in 2001, and in addition to providing radio shows has also posted interviews with Surra, Moonstarr, GB, Daz-I-Kue and Guida-de-Palma.
While living in Minneapolis he was exposed to a wide variety of musical concepts, especially techno and acid techno, which is no surprise given Minneapolis’ storied techno scene.
Even though those two genres were a huge influence, the pull of the brokenbeat was undeniable.

Over the past decade, Miami based DJ T.S. Heritage has developed a unique style that has many influences, from Dancehall Reggae to DrumnBass to Downtempo, but he always stays true to the underground sound.
