StarCraft: Brood War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
StarCraft: Brood War is an expansion pack released in 1998 for StarCraft — an award winning real-time strategy computer game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
During the battles, a massive Terran fleet from the distant United Earth Directorate intervenes, and Aldaris, troubled by their relations with the "traitorous" Dark Templar, split off and declare war on Tassadar's forces and the Dark Templar.
The two crystals, infused with the power of the two templars, are then joined in a Xel'Naga temple on Shakuras.

StarCraft: Brood War is an expansion set of scenarios that continue the war between the Protoss, Zerg and Terrans.
Brood War continues the story started in StarCraft and begins on the ravaged Protoss homeworld of Aiur, as Zerg, freed from the control of the Overmind, slaughter every Protoss they encounter.
StarCraft: Brood War adds seven new units to the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg races to attempt to compensate for each of their particular weaknesses and to add new strengths.

However, I have seen the Protoss dominate in many LAN games held here at VT. The main point is that Blizzard put tons of time and effort in making an incredibly balanced game where players with matched skill would win by their wits and not due to some trivial lopsidedness in races.
Brood War will add new units, new cinematics, and a new storyline to experience.
Brood War will feature 3 new terrain tilesets: The Desert, Winter, and the Dark Templar's homeworld.

StarCraft: Brood War was released about 1 year after StarCraft and was instantly a success.
Brood War was everything a StarCraft fan had ever wished for.
Blizzard, however, was able to maintain the balance, while introducing characters such as the mysterious Dark Templar for the Protoss, the greatly needed medics for the Terrans, and the Lurker, first unit with the ability to attack while underground, for the Zerg.

With Brood War, you won't find yourself venturing forth into new and uncharted conceptual territories that were unavailable to you before (and Blizzard doesn't claim that).
Rather, you'll find in Brood War 26 elegantly refined and balanced campaigns that stand as the finest example of what the single player Starcraft experience has to offer.
While the maps are quite fantastic in and of themselves, the real appeal of Brood War are the new units you get to put to use in your ongoing quest for a more substantial butt-whoopin'.

In fact, there was an expansion pack released for Warcraft II and this one is similar to that one except instead of two campaigns, there are three all-new campaigns that continue the epic Starcraft story line, one for each race.
I personally own both, and after having played Brood War I was compelled to go back and pass the original again.

futuristic war strategy game, each scenario has a specific goal to be attained, generally in the form of "kill _______ and keep _______ alive." Its primary attraction is that for most of the campaigns you can determine the composition of your force instead of merely being assigned one.
In this way you can build to suit your own style of war, whether you like to slip out the back, Jack, drop off the key, Lee, or run a cloaked ghost in to target a nuclear attack on their command station...uh...Nathan.

I must admit that when I first got Starcraft: Brood War, I had been anticipating the game for quite a while.

Although Brood War does include hundreds of new maps and three new single player campaigns, it is more than just a simple expansion set: it’s an evolution.
