Also ideally cast are Steve Zahn ("Happy, Texas," "Out of Sight") and stage actor Dechen Thurman (brother of Hawke's wife Uma), who play the Bard's comic relief characters Rosencrantz and Guildenstern as scruffy bar flies who kiss up to the new king.
For those who don't know the story, "Hamlet" is about a prince (or in this case a trust fund brat) haunted by his murdered father (a grim Sam Shepard) and beset by the knowledge that his mother (Diane Venora) married his power-hungry uncle (Kyle MacLachlan) almost immediately afterwards.
Keeping their end up are Sam Shepard, perfectly eerie as Hamlet's phantom father, and Diane Venora, an experienced Shakespearean actress (she once played a female Hamlet on stage) who is mesmerizing as the queen.

Get Carter was remade in a 2000 film of the same title, with Sylvester Stallone playing the main part; Michael Caine had a significant cameo.

"Get Carter" is a dimly lit, brooding film noir that is as technically stylish as it is utterly mediocre.
Carter, feeling guilty over not staying in touch with him over the years, knows that his brother would not drink and drive, and suspects that he was murdered--but by who?
"My name is Jack Carter, and you don't want to know me," says Sylvester Stallone in the opening line of dialogue from "Get Carter," a loose remake of the same-named 1971 film starring Michael Caine (who has a supporting role here).

Features include a commentary with director Kay, eight minutes of deleted scenes, trailers for the 1971 and 2000 Get Carter (the '71 spot is a total hoot), and cast notes.
The real question is if the remake is a good film in its own right — will it entertain folks who have never seen its predecessor?
