The surname Broughton is often associated with the landed gentry of those Broughtons in Cheshire and Buckinghamshire.
In the County of Chester, the Broughtons descend in the male line from Hugh de Vernon, baron of Shipbroke at the time of the Norman Conquest, whose son, Richard de Vernon was father of Adam de Napton, county Warwick, whose issue assumed their local name from Broughton in Staffordshire.
In the county of Buckingham, at the time of the Domesday survey (1086), the principal manor of Broughton was held by Walter Giffard, Earl of Buckingham, and cousin of William the Conqueror.

Anyway, Aylesbury ducks are nice saute (can’t put the accent on the end ‘e’!) with apple slices, or served with a green peppercorn sauce, and according to this farm site can be purchased for £21.93 a kg..
I could hear ducks and geese calling out in a Buckinghamshire accent (you know, all ducks and geese have accents), was it the Aylesbury they were after for Sunday lunch or perhaps a goose!
