		Aberdeen is currently the county seat of Brown County, but it was not always so; when Brown County was officially organized on September 14th, 1880, Aberdeen was not yet officially established as a town.
		The original county seat of Brown County was Columbia; however, it would not hold this title for long – once Aberdeen became a town in 1881, there was a metaphorical tug-of-war concerning which town would be the county seat.
		Before Aberdeen or Brown County itself was inhabited by the European settlers, it was inhabited by the Sioux Indians from approximately 1700 to 1879.
