  Townships of Darke County, Ohio
Was erected in December 1833, being taken from Richland; and was bounded as follows: beginning at the Northwest corner of Township 13 North, Range 2 East, thence south to the township line, thence east to the east line of Section 35, thence north to the township line, and west to the place of beginning.
Subsequently, the parts of townships 14 and 15 lying directly north and of equal width with this, were added, but in 1839 were laid off into a new township called Allen.

A short time previous to the settlement of this county a battle was fought at a locality called “the salt lick,” in Perry township, in the northern part of the county, between a party of Kentuckians and some Indians under TECUMSEH.
The greatest industry of this county is tobacco-raising, of which 3,702,542 pounds were produced in 1885, this amount being exceeded only by Montgomery county.

The county's website appeared to show a similar anomaly, reporting that 51,818 people cast ballots but only 47,768 ballots were recorded in the presidential race, including 61 write-ins, meaning that approximately 4,000 votes, or nearly 7%, were not counted for a presidential candidate.

Boyd was a native of Maryland, had lived in Kentucky, and was probably married there before he emigrated to Ohio and had, as far as we are able to learn, stopped one or two years near the Miami in Butler county, before emigrating to the wilderness, that, two years afterward, created the county of Darke.
the township, as it was everywhere else throughout the West in those days, and the evils resulting from its use became so marked that a firm stand was taken by some settlers against it.
At the first election in the township for Justices, JAMES BOYD and James Gray, the two tavern-keepers were candidates against George Graham and John Iler, members of the Methodist Church.

 Civil War Monuments in Ohio
In 1863, the citizens of Bristolville, Trumbull County, erected a monument to honor thirteen local men who were "Defenders of the Union from Bristol, Ohio." The square-shaped stone monument is topped with a funerary urn and decorated with crossed swords, cannon and rifles.
At the dedication in 1928, the Ohio director of highways accepted the plaque from the Ohio Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Clinton, Noble and Pike Counties are the only Ohio counties not included in the inventory, although Carroll County is here only because of the McCook House and Crawford County's single entry is for Frank, a horse that served in Co. A, 12th Ohio Cavalry Regiment.
