Brown noise is a type of noise similar to white noise, but rather than having an equal representation of all frequencies, the lower frequencies are represented more than the higher ones.
Brown noise is noise that falls off at -6 dB per octave, that is, noise whose amplitude at a given frequency is inversely proportional to the frequency.
Thus, brown noise is to pink noise as pink noise is to white noise.

Brown note - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The brown note, according to an urban legend, is an infrasonic frequency that causes humans to lose control of their bowels due to resonance.
The brown note is unrelated to brown noise.
The brown note was featured in an episode of South Park (3x17: "World Wide Recorder Concert") as a sound that caused the entire earth to empty their bowels uncontrollably.

Brown Noise: This is a special kind of noise that has a 1/f amplitude distribution - the volume is inversely proportional to pitch.
Brown noise is also the sound made by a "random walk" which makes the amplitude of a waveform travel up and down at random.

 About Colored Noise
Noise is used to mean a lot of things in engineering, and is an extremely important concept, since a lot of the technical challenges in, say, building a cell phone system, or an ultrasound machine, come from trying to extract a desired information 'signal' from a background of unwanted 'noise'.
In general, 'noise' can refer to anything that interferes with what we want: it might be a single voice of someone sitting next to us in a movie, but the 'purest' form of noise comes from a totally random source.
To make an audible noise that sounds more as if it is balanced across the full range of audible frequencies, we have to boost the low range (the 'bass' of a conventional stereo) and cut the high frequency; there is still energy at every frequency, but now the balance is shifted.

In this lively book, David Brown locates jazz music within the broad aesthetic, political, and theoretical upheavals of our time, asserting that modern architecture and urbanism in particular can be strongly influenced and defined by the ways that improvisation is facilitated in jazz.
Noise Orders identifies how architecture can respond to the inclusive dynamics of extemporaneous movements, variable conceptions of composition, multiple durations, and wide manipulation of resources found in jazz to enable outcomes that far exceed a design’s seeming potential.
David P. Brown is associate professor of architecture at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Black Noise; is noise that has a frequency spectrum of predominantly zero power level over all frequencies except for a few narrow bands or spikes.
Grey Noise is subjected to a psycho-acoustic equal loudness curve which compensates for the bias of the human ear so that it sounds the same at all frequencies.
Red Noise; is another name for Brown Noise, and an oceanographic term which describes the ambient noise of distant underwater objects due to the selective absorption of higher frequencies.

As I talked to Shawn Brown on the phone, he had just finished an in-store performance at a Border's bookstore in Santa Barbara, California, and was in his van on the way to his next show.
With someone else driving (tour partner and fellow musician, Kai Brown) and miles of highway before him, we had plenty of time to chat about how Brown came to be on the road to success.
Encouraged by both of them and the audiences who came to see him, Brown started looking at his guitar playing and singing as his future. But knowing what a fickle scene music can be, he decided to continue with his music while also getting a higher education.

Other examples occur with some types of radio tubes or semi-conductors where the noise may be amplified to produce a noise generator.
Note that in all of these cases, it is only the signal's amplitude fluctuating randomly that results in its being classified as Gaussian noise.

Still, the news that Brown was going to venture into the world of NASCAR came as a complete surprise to some of his former teammates.

1/f noise, or “flicker” noise, is a type of waveform that exhibits a high level of correlation over long time periods and can be described as having a power density spectrum of 1/f^1.
White noise, therefore, is said to have no “memory.” The third type of noise, brown noise, is highly correlated.
Voss and Clark hypothesized that since 1/f noise sources contained the same time correlation as the music they had analyzed, it might be possible to use 1/f noise to generate musical compositions that exhibited pleasing musical characteristics.
