Bruce Almighty (2003) is a comedy movie directed by Tom Shadyac and written by Steve Koren, Mark O'Keefe and Steve Oedekerk.
Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is a TV news reporter at Eyewitness News Channel 7 in Buffalo, New York (WKBW-TV) who fails to get a job as an anchorman and, after a series of other bad luck incidents, complains to God that he is treating him unfairly and is doing a poor job as supreme deity.
Bruce is then contacted by God (Morgan Freeman) and endowed with almighty powers to prove that he can do a better job.

BRUCE, whose concept of a mere mortal taking over for God is ripe with comic possibilities, could have used more cleverness and less wackiness to push it over the edge of mediocrity.

Revealing: When Bruce is at the restaurant and Jennifer Aniston believes that he is about to propose, watch her left ring finger, you can see the tan lines from her real wedding ring.
Continuity: When Bruce has just smashed his car into the pole, he throws the prayer beads into the water and says, "The gloves are off, Pal," which is confirmed in the subtitles.

He is at the point of his life where he is about to turn 40 and he feels as if he is no where near where he wants to be in life, he's a lot closer than many people in similar shoes are, but he can't see that (better yet just won't see it).
God did do Bruce a favor in that he only gave him prayers to answer in a certain part of the city of Buffalo and if you don't do it for a day, as you might imagine, they pile up.

Bruce Almighty has everything you could ask for from a Jim Carrey movie, its got a fantastic concept, there are many memorable scenes, great dialogue and fun for the family.
The casting is almost see-saw on Bruce Almighty, Carrey is fantastic as ever, Morgan Freeman gives an unusual silly performance as God (considering he's done films like Shawshank Redemption), and Jennifer Aniston brings a more dramatic performance as Bruce's girlfriend.
Having said all that, Bruce Almighty is a wonderfully light-hearted comedy that should please all of the family, and even if it's not a patch on his older material, there is no denying that no does comedy like Jim Carrey.
