Bruce Township is a civil township of Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Michigan.
As of the 2000 census, the township population was 1,940.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 years of age or older.

Wayne County, named in honor of General Anthony Wayne, was the first Michigan county organized in the Northwest Territory in 1796 by Winthrop Sargent, Acting Governor.

In Chippewa County however, the first courthouse, was built in 1877 and remains today, a symbol of the performance and stability of the governmental process.

Jesse Bishop was born in 1803 in New York, removed to Macomb County in 1831 and settled on 160 acres in Bruce Township.
Daughter of Jesse Bishop, of Bruce Township, was born March 16, 1845; married to Manly Thurston, son of B. Thurston, October 15, 1862; after marriage, resided on the farm of his father one year, then bought the farm on Section 18 known as the Donaldson farm, on which the family still reside.
Daughter of Isaac Thompson, formerly of Yates County, N.Y., Dorothea was born at that place October 2, 1814; moved with her parents to Macomb County October 1, 1825, and lived in Bruce Township, near Romeo, until February 20, 1840, when she was married to Charles W. Chamberlin, and settled on Section 33, Armada Township.

Before the standardization of truss bridge design by the state highway department, county and township road commissions in Michigan sometimes economized on bridge construction by substituting "two-angle" truss superstructures for the more traditional configurations.
The Parker Road Bridge in Chippewa County exemplifies this construction trend.
Built in 1914, apparently for the Bruce Township Board, it is the only such two-angle truss in Michigan that has been definitively dated.

Monday at the Bruce Township Hall with a second meeting at the same location running from 7-9 p.m.
Escanaba, Stephenson, Bruce Crossing and Mass City will also host similar meetings targeting the Upper Peninsula's 500 or so livestock and dairy producers.
