Bruno Lüdke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bruno Lüdke (1909-1944) was an alleged German serial killer.
Declared insane, he was sent to a Vienna hospital, where experiments were carried out on him until he died by lethal injection in 1944.
Many believe Bruno Lüdke to be the victim of a frame-up, carried out by an ambitious Kriminalkommisar (chief homicide investigator) Franz, the heavily censored Reichskriminalpolizeiamt, and the budding Nazi government, that had little patience with the mentally challenged.

Upon reflection, Ludke made a full confession to the homicide, informing officers that under Paragraph 51 a law dealing with mental defectives - he was immune from indictment.
Kommissar Franz spent a year checking Ludke's confessions, emerging convinced that his suspect was guilty of numerous murders; conversely, some critics maintain that police saw the chance to unload open cases on Ludke and thereby save face.

 Re: Geeky women?
At least, whenever I pass by music practice rooms and art areas, there seem to be a lot more girls around than guys, and the same seems to be true for their social get-togethers (on college campuses, at least).
The 35 year old German was apprehended in 1943 after he had strangled and knifed to death at least 85 women over a period of about 17 years.
His arrest was never reported to the German public: Ludke was an embarrassment to the Nazi authorities, since several apparently innocent men had already been tried and executed for his crimes.

The Devil Strikes At Night (Nachts, Wenn Der Teufel Kam) (DVD)
Admitting that a mass murderer had eluded detection or capture for over a decade was inconceivable, so by order of Hitler news of the case was completely suppressed and the police officer was sent to the front.
The killer’s character was based on an actual murderer, Bruno Ludke, who is said to have amassed a similarly gruesome record.
Siodmak narrates this story with a kind of chilling detachment, avoiding sensationalism while focusing on the omnipresent influence of the Gestapo, even on criminal investigations.
