		"Brzezinka," the Centre’s forest base, is an isolated building surrounded by 10 hectars of forest, located near the village of Brzezinka, next to Olesnica, 46 km from Wroclaw.
		After the dissolution of the Laboratory Theatre in 1984, the Second Wroclaw Studio inherited Brzezinka and the locale in Wroclaw.
		The inauguration of ‘new’ Brzezinka took place during the international conference ‘Jerzy Grotowski: the Past and the Present of Research – paratheatre and Theatre of Sources,’ organized by the Grotowski Centre in September 27-29, 2002.

	Brzezinka Information
		Brzezinka - village located in the Małopolska region of Poland, gmina (county) of Oświęcim (Auschwitz), at the confluence of the rives Vistula and Soła, at the very center of the Vistula Valley, 240 meters above sea level.
		By the time of the construction of the first railroad station in 1856 the station was on Brzezinka´s territory, but later it was transplanted to nearby Oświęcim (Auschwitz).
		The name Brzezinka was given to the area as far back as 1385 and stems from the Polish word for the birch trees which are plentiful.

		The most important structures are: in Brzezinka remains of four crematories and gas chambers and the pyres, the loading platform where the selection of deportees took place, a pond with human ashes, and in Oswiecim "The Death Block".

		I know that the Nazis chose Oswiecim and Brzezinka because of their relative isolation and rail access, but I can't believe that everything that happened there occurred and people let it go on.
