Vikings Sign Veteran Quarterback Bubby Brister
Brister was recently released by the Denver Broncos, ending a disappointing tenure in which he was beaten out for a starting job last season by Brian Griese.
Brister, 37, had headed to Denver's training camp as the heir apparent to the retired John Elway, but performed poorly in exhibition games and lost his job to Griese, a second-year player.
Brister said he was ``shocked'' when Griese was tabbed the starter on Aug. 30 and bitterly criticized coach Mike Shanahan.
