		Ohio is known as the "Buckeye State," the Ohio Buckeye is the official state tree, and Ohioans in general, but especially those associated with Ohio State University, are known as "buckeyes." The origin of this nickname, which dates from early pioneer days, is not completely known.
		During the campaign, hundreds of buckeye walking sticks and canes were distributed, and buckeye log cabins built on wagons as floats appeared in parades in many towns and villages.
		The Ohio Buckeye was popularly accepted as the State's symbol during the late 1800s and the first half of the twentieth century, but it was not formally adopted by the Ohio legislature as the State Tree until 1953, on the occasion of Ohio's 150th anniversary of statehood.

		Buckeye, in a cover letter, stated that the invoice was “to cover expenses to date due to F.O.B. Buckeye corn previously purchased by Farmland Grain and billed late or as the case currently, not at all, on three remaining 50’s.” The invoice disclosed that some of the product moved was soybeans.
		Thus, Buckeye’s claim that it did not waive its rights to so-called incidental damages in consideration for prepayment of the grain by Farmland must be denied in the absence of evidence that payment of such damages was part of the agreement made between Buckeye and Farmland.

		In 1877, the founder of the settlement that was to become the Town of Buckeye led a party of six men, three women and ten children, from Creston Iowa, bound for Arizona.
		In 1910, the Arizona Eastern Railroad came to Buckeye; the first car in 1911; a steam rail line connected it to Phoenix by 1912; and a state highway by 1915.
		Buckeye was incorporated in 1926 and included 440 acres.
