  The True Nature of Buddhahood
In the pre-Lotus Sutra teachings, the attainment of Buddhahood was described as an otherworldly state, where all attachments and desires are extinguished.
He further revealed that Buddhahood is the supreme state of life that is meant to be experienced in this life and among one’s fellow creatures, not in the afterlife or in a state of detachment from the real world of desires and suffering.
The higher states, especially bodhisattva and Buddhahood, are filled with compassion and are in perfect harmony with the universe.

He further claimed that his role as a buddha is to open, show, awaken and guide people into buddhahood, and the means of achieving that is through the “Expedient Means”.
The third expedient represent from the state of Buddhahood back to everyday reality which is enlightenment in the real world, it’s like coming back from the ceremony of the air back to the Eagle peak.
Buddhahood is the realization that we’re born with our body as an expedient Means to demonstrate the power of the mystic law.

Buddhism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is finally revealed (in the last of the Buddha's Mahayana sutras, the Nirvana Sutra) not as the circumscribed "non-self", the clinging ego (which is indeed anatta/anatman), but as the ever-enduring, egoless Great Self or Dharmakaya of the Buddha.
In the Nirvana Sutra, it is called by the Buddha the "True Self" (to distinguish it from the "false" worldly self of the five skandhas).
These scriptures were written in some form of Sanskrit, except a few manuscripts in Prakrit, and are concerned with the purpose of achieving Buddhahood by following the path of the bodhisattva over the course of what is often described as countless eons of time.

 Buddhahood
Also referred to as attaining Buddhahood as a common mortal, this principle was formulated by the T'ien-t'ai school on the basis of the Lotus Sutra.
Buddhahood is regarded as a state of perfect freedom, in which one is awakened to the eternal and ultimate truth that is the reality of all things.
That is, the world of Buddhahood possesses the nine worlds, i.e., the world of hell, the world of hungry spirits, the world of animals, the world of asuras, the world of human beings, the world of heavenly beings, the world of voice-hearers, the world of cause-awakened ones, and the world of bodhisattvas.

 Chapter Twenty-one
The result of the preliminary practices is twofold: (1) enthusiasm for an elevated and exalted goal, the goal of Buddhahood; and (2) disengagement from, or renunciation of, all attachment to the things of this life and to the cycle of samsara as a whole.
This twofold division of Buddhahood in terms of the form and truth dimensions is congruent with the classification of the three bodies (or dimensions) of Buddhahood: the terrestrial, celestial, and transcendental.
This three-dimensional nature of Buddhahood reflects the unity of samsara and nirvana, of enlightenment and ignorance, of a pure vision of the universe and an impure vision of it.
