South Buffalo Township in Armstrong County was presented with the second runner-up award in the 22nd Annual Road and Bridge Safety Improvement Contest at the annual convention of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors in Hershey April 18-21 for finding a permanent fix to a safety hazard caused by reoccurring road slides.
South Buffalo Township was recognized for the cost-effective repair of two road slides on Northern Scenic Road, which is a primarily stabilized road located in the far northwest corner of the township.
The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors represents Pennsylvania’s 1,456 townships of the second class and for the past 83 years has been committed to preserving and strengthening township government and securing greater visibility and involvement for townships in the state and federal political arenas.

 Historic Towns - The National Road
This was the tenth to be unveiled (on December 8, 1929) and is the only one in Pennsylvania.
It was built to carry the National Road over the Buffalo Creek in Buffalo Township, Pennsylvania.
This one was built in 1835 and is operated by the Uniontown Area Historical Society under the direction of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

A notice was placed in the Valley News Dispatch newspaper, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on July 10, 1991, informing the public of the availability of the public health assessment report on the Hranica Landfill, Butler County, and requested them to provide comments on the report by August 15, 1991.
This public health assessment was prepared by the State of Pennsylvania Department of Health under a cooperative agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR).

The shortest east-west US highway in Pennsylvania is ironically the longest in the United States.
A year later the gap between PA 299 and Yoder Drive was widened as was the alignment from Wesleyville to PA 531 and Bartlett Road to North East.
In 1958, a median was installed on the route from the Ohio state line to PA 5, Eagley Road to PA 18 South, Girard to Erie, Brandes Avenue to Buffalo Road, Wesleyville to PA 531, and Bartlett Road to Cemetery Road.

ADAM & ESTHER lived with his parents for a time, on the property they owned in East Buffaloe Township, Pa. In 1809, John and Sarah sold this porperty to Adam for a small sum, with the condition he and Sarah could live with them their remaining days.
All were born in E. Buffalo Township, Pennsylvania.
They lived near enough to the battlefield that they could hear the explosions of the cannons and the muzzle-loading rifles, during the Civil War.

Attinger will collect and transport 5,000 waste tires from the Marshall Duke property in West Buffalo Township, Union County, to the Lycoming County landfill for disposal by the end of this year.
The mine operator, Steven Shingara, never had a DEP permit to accept any waste and also was fined by DEP.
