The median income for a household in the township was $48,289, and the median income for a family was $51,842.

He was chosen a delegate to represent Berks, county in the Provincial Conference which met at Carpenter’s Hall, in Philadelphia, June 18, 1776, and early in the progress of the Revolution he joined the patriot army as surgeon, and served in that capacity until the close of the war-brought liberty to the struggling Colonies.
The former was born in Taylorsville, Schuylkill county, December 14, 1858, and the latter in Williamsport, February 2, 1861.
Campbell was married in 1847, to Encie, daughter of Elijah Deputy of Tioga county, Pennsylvania.

It is bounded on the north by Jackson Township, on the east by Marion and Delaware Counties, on the south by Leesburg and Taylor Townships, and on the west by York.
It is one of the largest townships in the county and the second in population Its name is derived from the Buller-Claibourne Survey, which is the largest in the county, and which at the organization of the township contained nearly all the settlers, then within its limits of the latter.
William Hamilton was one of the early pioneers of Claibourne Township and for a period of almost thirty years one of the foremost men of Union County.

This county extends 20 miles along the West Bank of the West Branch Susquehanna River, and tapers to 4 miles on the Mifflin County line.
The Centre County line (20 miles) crosses obliquely the 5 great anticlinal ranges of the Buffalo Mountains to the head of the White Deer Creek, north of which the White Deer Mountain carries the line east 9 miles.
The western side of the county, therefore, is occupied by seven anticlinal mountain spurs of Medina sandstone No. IV, dying eastward beneath a low country of Clinton and Onondaga No. V, across which the river flows, exhibiting the rock arches in succession.

The successive erections of the last-named four townships reduced the area of Hopewell to its present boundaries, which are, on the north, Cross Creek township; on the northeast and east, Mount Pleasant and Canton; on the south, Buffalo; and on the west the township of Independence.
Buffalo Village, situated in the east part of Hopewell township, on the road leading from Washington borough to West Middletown, is a hamlet of twelve dwellings, a post-office, a store, and having one resident physician, Dr. Henry L. Snodgrass.

 History of Rooks County
The county was named for a private, John C. Rooks, of the 11th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, who died from a wound suffered during the savage December 7, 1862, Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
The first house erected in Stockton Township, and Rooks County, was erected in February, 1871, by the McNulty Brothers, two and one half miles south of town on the south side of the South Solomon.
The Zurich Township Hall was built in 1914 and is one of the oldest structures in town.

Union County is participating in a cooperative four county effort sponsored by the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to develop a river conservation and greenway plan for a 75 mile corridor of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
The county completed a comprehensive stormwater management plan for the Buffalo Creek Watershed in the spring of 1999.
The county has determined a need to develop partnerships between public, private, and non-profit organizations in order to make local communities disaster resistant.

MAZEPPA — Buffalo Township and Union County officials are investigating complaints about an illegal hog farm in Mazeppa.
Addressing the first issue, Buffalo Township zoning officer Bruce Brady said, "The township believes that there is zoning violation."
Officials at the Union County Soil Conservation District declined to comment on the situation except to say that the investigation and prosecution of violations of the state’s nutrient management act are handled by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s conservation commission.

WILLIAMSPORT (Dec. 10) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today reached an agreement with a Northumberland County tire hauler to remove 5,000 waste tires from Union County to resolve a penalty for waste transport violations, according to Northcentral Regional Director Robert Yowell.
"Barry E. Attinger of Point Township illegally transported about 4,500 waste tires to a coal mine in Northumberland County during the course of two years," Yowell said.
Attinger will collect and transport 5,000 waste tires from the Marshall Duke property in West Buffalo Township, Union County, to the Lycoming County landfill for disposal by the end of this year.
