Cagayan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cagayán province is distinct from the city in Mindanao named Cagayán de Oro, and should not be confused.
The majority of people living in Cagayan are of Ilocano descent, mostly from migrants coming from the Ilocos Region.
With no support from government of raising awareness and preserving each minorities' culture, the future of these groups is next to dim and perhaps in the future, Cagayan will no longer be Cagayan, but a mere province filled with Ilocano/Tagalog speakers with no former knowledge of the previous cultures that lived there beforehand.

BUGUEY, Cagayan—Fishermen in this town at the northern portion of Cagayan have developed a technique of growing talakitok, or jack, in cages resulting in a thriving talakitok cage culture industry in the Buguey Lagoon here.
Talakitok is a very tasty, high-value fish that inhabits the coastal waters of the Philippines, said Dr. Rafael D. Guerrero 3rd, executive director of the Philippine Council of Marine and Aquatic Resources Research and Development, a sectoral council of the Department of Science and Technology.
The thriving talakitok cage culture industry is a result of the siltation of the Buguey Lagoon, which used to be a rich source of grouper fry and juveniles that were gathered for export to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other countries in the nineties.
