	Seattle Hockey Hall of Fame - Al Leader
		While Frank and Lester Patrick first brought hockey out west in 1911 and helped create a foundation for the sport in the area, it was another man who took the game to the next level in the region, giving it stability and financial success.
		By 1932 he was an officer in the league, serving as secretary-treasurer, and he also acted as an off-ice official and timekeeper for the professional Pacific Coast Hockey League in the middle part of the decade.
		In 1944 it was renamed the Pacific Coast Hockey League and included teams along the entire west coast and as far south as San Diego.

		Frank Mathers was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs for parts of three seasons between 1948-49 and 1951-52, but spent most of his time in the organisation with the Maple Leafs' American Hockey League farm club in Pittsburgh, where he became one of the league's top defenceman.
		Mathers played on a Calder Cup winner as AHL champion in Pittsburgh in 1952 and 1955 and set a league record in 1955-56 when he was named to the all-star team for the fifth consecutive season.
		He earned the Lester Patrick Trophy for his contribution to hockey in the United States in 1987 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1992.

		There he continued his interest in Ice Hockey and joined with young parliamentarians and government 'aides de camp' to form a team called the Rideau Hall Rebels, naming themselves after one of Ottawa's fine government buildings.
		As such, he should qualify as an honored member of Canada's Hockey Hall of Fame, but has not yet been recognized nationally for his magnificent contribution to the game and to the culture of the nation, and indeed, to the culture of the world.
