  Buldhana district - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The district is bounded on the north by Madhya Pradesh state, to the east by Akola and Washim districts, to the south by Parbhani and Jalna districts, and to the west by Jalna and Jalgaon districts.
It is believed that Buldhana, along with the rest of the erstwhile Berar province, was part of the legendary kingdom of Vidarbha mentioned in the Mahabharata.
The district lies in the Tapti River and Godavari River basins.

AURANGABAD, OCT 13: The three seniormost officials of Buldhana district have been severely indicted for the self-immolation of Devidas Lahane (65), who set himself ablaze in front of the Zilla Parishad on October 5 after pleading with the authorities to provide drinking water to the villagers of Sundarkhed since a decade.
The official said the local administration also wrongly implemented a scheme for potable water in Buldhana district and 13 adjoining villages sanctioned in December 1997.
Of the Rs 2 crore released under the Rs 25-crore scheme, whose deadline was set as March 1999, the ZP first built a filtration plant for water to be supplied from the Yelgaon dam.
