The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) (Bulgarian: Български футболен съюз, БФС) is the governing body of football in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Football Union is based in Sofia and was founded in 1923 as the football department of the Bulgarian National Sports Federation, which existed until the revolution of 1944.
The football governing body was then known as the Central Football Committee until 1948, the Republican Section for Football from 1948 until 1962 and the Bulgarian Football Federation from 1962 until 1985.

Borislav Mikhailov (Bulgarian: Борислав Михайлов) (born February 12, 1962) is a former Bulgarian football player, playing as a goalkeeper.
He was captain of the Bulgarian National Football Team during their surprising fourth-place run at the 1994 World Cup, as well their participation in Euro 96.
He was vice-president of the Bulgarian Football Union from 2001 until 2005, when he replaced Ivan Slavkov as president.

Bulgarian Football Union was founded on June 27, 1985 in Sofia.
It is a successor of the Bulgarian Football Federation (1962-1985), Republican Football Section (1948-1962), Central Football Committee (1945-1948) and the Bulgarian National Sport Federation (1923-1945).
Thirty-two of them are professional football clubs, registered under the Trade Law and participants in the Supreme Group and the Second Professional Group.

The BFU referees' commission suspended match referee Dimitar Dimitrov and linesman Krassimir Kerezov for four and two matches respectively.
There has also been a growing number of threats and violence levelled against referees and the BFU said a week ago that referee chief Georgi Kamishev was set to resign in protest at the mounting pressure on match officials.
