The band members are Rick Nielsen (guitarist and main songwriter), Bun E. Carlos (born Brad Carlson) (drums), Robin Zander (vocals and guitars), and Tom Petersson (bass guitar).
Bun E. Carlos said that before the show started KISS's drummer Peter Criss was so intoxicated that Carlos almost had to put on makeup and take his place.
According to Bun E. Carlos, Robin Zander plays a Hamer 12-string (guitar as opposed to bass) in addition to a Gibson Firebird, Chandler "Telecaster" and Rickenbacker 325.

Carlos: We're recording it now and then we are going to finish in the fall and then figure out what to do with it.
Carlos: There were the fabulous 80s when the record company hated us, and there were the fabulous early 90s when we were fighting with our manager.

Carlos and Neilsen are the two "nerdy," "quirky" members.
Carlos looks like a dad or an accountant, and helps Neilsen in adding an element of humor to the group's varied personae.
After a few measures Petersson comes in with the main riff of the melody on 12-string bass (six bass strings and six guitar strings, I believe), and after a bit, the riff is built upon by the distorted treble of Neilsen's guitar.

My dad said that Bun E. was one of the nicest men he'd ever had the chance to talk to and didn't act any differently due to his status.
My father frequently recalls these chats with Bun E. and can say firsthand that he was truly devoted to his music and not only concerned with "making it big".
He never got any autographs from Bun E. or the rest of the band, saying that he didn't ever ask for one because they were just like everyone else in the bar, and that's the way they wanted to keep it.

When the band are taking their bows at the end of the show, the newly svelte Bun E. Carlos suddenly flings his leftover potato chips, and then the can after them, into the audience.
In the limo, on the way back to the hotel, Bun and Robin are chuckling about how many pieces those potato chips have undoubtedly been crushed into by now.

Bun E needed to get a ride to the hotel, and I headed out, dodging celebrity fans and trolleys bearing monitors and guitar cases, and headed out into the warm evening air to drive back to my bed for the night.

They take another break and when they come back for encore number 2 Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick are on stage (remember this is Rockford, the home of Cheap Trick) and Bun E. is on drums with Rick playing guitar and the whole group launches into "Surrender".
Matt let Bun E play drums, and so Matt was just chilling onstage with a tambourine.

Bun was released and flew home on May 25th.
Today Bun E got the medical results and passed all the tests.

"The spirit of Bun E. lives in me," sings Woolworthy's Rudy Gonzales, a nod to perennially rumpled Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos.
And even if Bun E. weren't name-checked, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out Woolworthy's influences and contemporaries.
Be it emocore, post-punk, garage pop, or whatever the kids are calling it these days, the band's second self-released album consists of eleven straightforward, supercharged pop songs in the vein of fellow Midwestern upstarts Promise Ring and the Get-Up Kids, and one token ballad.

Drummer Bun E. Carlos resembled a rumpled white-collar worker.
Although I do think they offer a distinctive sound, not many of the songs really stand out for me. The tunes are consistently lively and acceptably engaging, but except for a couple of exceptions, they don’t manage to stick out from each other.
Because of the relatively problematic quality, I’d leave this one for the band’s biggest fans; neophytes probably won’t be swayed by it.

When twangy/jangly power popster Spike Priggen was recording at Brooklyn's Fireproof Recording studio a few weeks ago, he told the drummer, "It's really great having you here--I don't have to tell you to play it more like Bun E. Carlos" like he's done in previous sessions.
That's because this time, the guy behind the kit was Bun E. Carlos, of Cheap Trick chainsmoking fame.
He'll be followed the next night by Buzz Gordo (of Gone Native and Los Gatos) and Bill Collins (of The Swaggerts); after separate sets the two may play a few songs together from their old Big Bad Johns days.

This DVD version of the album reviewed below is exactly the same as far as the music is concerned, except that here the audio is available in stereo or 5.1 surround sound.
And, as might be expected, the band's charisma carries over to the live recording fluidly.
As always, Bun E. Carlos delivers the band's incredibly strong backbeat.
