Because of its proximity to impressive natural scenery, Bundanoon started to attract tourists in the late 1880s, guest houses began to appear and pathways to the scenic sights were constructed.
Ultimately Bundanoon became the major holiday resort of the Southern Highlands and a retreat for honeymooners.
Bundanoon Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden is located in The Old Library, at the corner of Railway Ave and William St and is open daily from 10-4, tel: (02) 4883 6868.

In the late 1860's to the early 1870's settlement began in the town of Bundanoon and in 1872 a non-official post office was established with James Cambourn being the first postmaster.
The Bundanoon branch of the Country Women's Association was formed in 1927 with a Rest Room for the organization being built in 1930.
Bundanoon Park Bowling Club was opened in October 1951 with a bowling green being constructed in 1955 and a clubhouse being erected in 1956.

 Bundanoon
Bundanoon could have been called South Lambton, Barren Grounds or even Jumping Rock, all local names from as early as 1838, but when the railway route to Goulburn was taken through ‘Jordan's Crossing’ in 1868, the name stuck.
Bundanoon was the name the first inhabitants, the Gundungurra people, used to describe the deep and spectacular gullies that so typify the landscape surounding the present day township.
These days, Bundanoon is a vibrant, rapidly growing community that has managed not only to retain its village atmosphere, but improve upon it through the enthusiastic involvement of its residents.

As soon as the trackwork was firmly fixed to the baseboard, the State Rail Authority sent their anti-modelling SWAT team to Bundanoon to remove sidings and alter pointwork.
The layout is basically a double track loop, with the depiction of Bundanoon on one side, and on the other side is a generic type of yard that would be found in a large fictional country town.
This was built for the 'push-me-pull-you' members of our club who enjoy moving rolling stock from point A to point B (or any other letter of the alphabet that wanders onto the track), without actually leaving the safety of the station area.

Getting There Bundanoon was selected for these weekends because of its easy access from both Sydney and Canberra.
Bundanoon has a centrally located train station which is only a short walk to the School.

 Highland Fling
As a warm up to the main race on Sunday and as an opportunity to run a short race starting and finishing close to the centre of Bundanoon, a short fundraising ‘sprint’ race called the Bundanoon Dash is taking place at 5.30pm on Saturday 11 November, the day before the main Highland Fling race.
Riders racing in the Fling on Sunday do not have to do the Dash but it is hoped many will.
The route of the Dash is for riders to be led under escort (non race conditions) from Bundanoon Public School down Constitution Hill to Riverview Road where they will start racing.
