Language notions and functions were studied to devise a unit-credit system for adult language learners who need to become functional in a language, usually outside the traditional school curriculum.
Language courses, for instance, that fulfill humanistic course requirements by definition must focus on cultural awareness and insights into language and the process of communication, in addition to developing practical language skills.
Language learning, particularly in a setting where the language is not naturally used as the language of communication, is a slow process.

Bung Pram confirmed that the ban remains (but, it appears to be enforced less ever since Suharto was forced out of dictatorship), and that his presence that night was related to the Reformasi (reform) movement in Indonesia, and was itself his form of opposition to the current government.
So, although Bung Pram is probably delighted that his words are being read in his original language, photocopies do not yield royalties.
This man, who has suffered so many injustices during his life (including years of brutal imprisonment, when he created several novels orally until he was permitted pen and paper) was so respectful to everyone, and had clearly retained his dignity despite all the indignities he had suffered.

The Thai Language - Thailand - Mark Moxon, Travel Writer
The strange-looking script of Thailand's language made me feel as if I was somewhere completely alien: you get used to seeing the hieroglyphics of Chinese quickly enough, and even if you can't understand Malay or Indonesian, at least you can read it.
The pronunciation rules for speaking Thai are complex because it's a tonal language – the pitch at which you say something alters its meaning – but most travellers just learn the numbers, hello, thank you and please, and manage quite happily with sign language.
Try phat phak bung fai daeng (morning glory vine in fried garlic and bean sauce) or plaa dak phat phet (catfish fried in fresh chilli paste and basil), especially when the menu's in Thai script and your pronunciation is liable to bring you lightly grilled cockroach testicles braised in a sauce of lizard's eyeballs.

Jalaa language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jalaa (autonym bàsàrə̀n dà jàlààbè̩) is an endangered language of northeastern Nigeria (Loojaa settlement in Balanga Local Government Area, Bauchi State), of uncertain (possibly Niger-Congo) origins.
(The name of this settlement, Cèntûm or Cùntûm, is used as a name for the language in some sources.) Later, during the nineteenth century, the Cham arrived in the area, fleeing attacks from the larger Waja to the north; the Cham intermarried with the Jalabe, and the Jalabe began to adopt the Cham language.
Both the Cham and the Tso traditionally avoided using names of the dead; when those names were also words of the language, as often happened, this forced them to change the word, sometimes by replacing it with a word from a neighboring language.
