  Oil field
Because an oil field may be remote from civilization, establishing a field is often an extremely complicated exercise in logistics.
Thus, the typical oil field resembles a small self-contained city in the midst of a landscape dotted with oil derricks[?] and/or the pump jacks known as "nodding donkeys" because of their bobbing arm.
The largest are the Ghawar Field[?] in Saudi Arabia and the Burgan Field[?] in Kuwait, with more than 60 billion barrels estimated in each.

 t r u t h o u t - Kuwait Oil Field, World's Second-Largest, 'Exhausted'
Kuwaiti oil production from the world's second-largest field is "exhausted" and falling after almost six decades of pumping, forcing the government to increase spending on new deposits, the chairman of the state oil company said.
To boost oil supplies, "Burgan by itself won't be enough because we've exhausted that, with its production capability now much lower than what it used to be," al-Zanki said during an interview in his office in Ahmadi, 20 kilometers south of Kuwait City.
Burgan on its own had enough reserves to support 2 million or 3 million barrels of daily output, but those have already been produced, al-Zanki said in the interview two days ago.

The peak output of the Burgan oil field will now be around 1.7 million barrels per day, and not the two million barrels per day forecast for the rest of the field's 30 to 40 years of life, Chairman Farouk Al Zanki told Bloomberg [article below].
The news about the Burgan oil field also lends credence to the controversial opinions of investment banker and geologist Matthew Simmons.
The natural world has an uncanny ability to hit back at the arrogance of man, and perhaps a reassessment of reality at this point is called for, rather than a reliance on oil statistics that may owe more to political maneuvering than geological facts.

The Oil Drum | Reserve Appreciation And Incremental Flows
It seems apparent that in a mature, depleted field like Burgan, it is no longer possible to increase the incremental flows and probably what is "exhausted" there is the ability to apply secondary recovery methods to keep the reservoir at pressure.
And we can now see that IEA statements like "Greater Burgan's output is expected to increase steadily to 1.6 mbd in 2015, and then decline slightly to around 1.5 mbd by 2030" as quoted by HO in Burgan and the other fields in Kuwait are simply nonsense.
The problem with Cantarell is that it's a carbonate field in which the decline is abrupt, up to 15% per year, and if to this factor is added the difficulty of extraction, we have that the rate of decline can be even greater.
