Burnt By The Sun - The Perfect Is The Enemy of The Good
Burnt By The Sun decided to stick to their path that they have been steamrolling the past few years and write another disc with ten times more anger and attitude than your favorite band could ever think about forging.
Burnt By The Sun adheres to the old policy of not repairing what is broken, turning out another brain-smashing disc full of animosity.
They are nowhere near as over the top and chaotic as they were on Burnt By The Sun's last two efforts, and that will assuredly turn off those hoping for a return to the Burnt By The Sun that recorded splits with Luddite Clone.

J.F.A., MP3 Music Download at eMusic
Separated as they were from the dying New York and U.K. punk scenes and the '80s punk hotbed in Los Angeles, JFA pursued their own brand of skatepunk that celebrated the suburban release sun burnt skaters experienced while carving swimming pools and desert pipes.
JFA performed often in and around Phoenix in the early '80s, and by 1985, the group had released several records on the Placebo imprint: their debut 7", Blatant Localism, which has become quite a collector's item; the 12" Valley of the Yakes; an untitled 12"; the Mad Gardens 12" and the Live 1984 Tour 12".
Phoenix, AZ, punk legends JFA (or Jodie Foster's Army) was assembled in 1981 by Brian Brannon (vocals), Don Redondo (guitars), Mike Cornielius (bass), and drummer Mike Sversvold.

 //radiotakeover v4.2 - + - sounds of the underground
In times past, they've shared members with bands such as Burnt by the Sun and Ensign, and have incorporated the experiences and backgrounds of these widely disparate sounds into a chaotic tumble that breathes the sound and life of their home turf.
With a heavy-handed approach and a sound that crashes like thunder, HIGH ON FIRE has put the power back in 'power-trio.' Less a band than a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness, the band has burned the metal rulebook and forged a new archetype.
Sounds of the Underground is a multi band festival of cross genre underground bands from the metal and hardcore scenes.

City Newspaper: Music: Music features: The end of heaviness as we know it.
Sulaco and their "extreme metal" peers --- the Dillinger Escape Plan, Burnt By The Sun, Today Is The Day, Meshuggah, Candiria, etc. --- are nothing if not experimental.
Sulaco's music plays like audio invisible ink --- by the time your mind has grasped one idea, it's too late because the band is already somewhere else, and the listener constantly loses a sense of footing.
This won't surprise anyone familiar with the band's collective resume, which includes time served in Within, Mungbeandemon, Kalibas, and, of course, local tech-metal legends Lethargy (which also included Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, both now members of critically-acclaimed Atlanta thrash-prog hybrid Mastodon, which plays Water Street August 4).

Just as a track seems to be getting away from the listener, Candiria pull it nicely back together with a superb breakdown or a fluid groove, much in the same way as the likes of Burnt By The Sun, Botch or the Dillinger Escape Plan.
Not because they are in any way a bad band, but because they have so many different layers of musical styles in their music that it often requires the full attention of the listener to really appreciate them.
But to be quite honest, when Candiria are on top of their game, they are untouchable, and this album is no exception.

Only DEP themselves and the mighty BURNT BY THE SUN have the massive wall of sound to stand as equals to THE RED CHORD.
I had never heard of this band and had no point of reference whatsoever when I slapped this in the ole' CD player.
I tend to think of DEP as approaching their sound from the hardcore angle and BBTS as coming to their sound with a grindcore approach and I have to say that THE RED CHORD seem to be heading the same direction but from a death metal perspective.

It has been one of the three most talked about releases of 2002 so far, along with the Burnt by the Sun and Mastodon full lengths, and with good reason.
The Red Chord have shown themselves worthy of the hype surrounding this full length.
The Red Chord's mixture of death metal, technical frenzy and just straight up metalcore on "Fused Together in Revolving Doors" warrants much attention and praise.

Sarissa is a Greek band whose case is considered by me as unique for the Greek (and why not for the European) standards.
On the whole you could say that Sarissa in 1994 determined the boundaries and marked the modern epic metal sound, especially in Greece, by creating a unique, personal and most of all trademark style.

 Review: Prisoner of the Mountains
Two -- Vanya (the director's son, Sergei Bodrov Jr.) and Sacha (Oleg Menshikov, Burnt by the Sun) -- are taken prisoners.
Director Sergei Bodrov uses an intimate tapestry depicting two Russian captives and their small band of captors to illustrate the similarities of human beings on either side of the battle lines.
There's quite a bit of low-key humor to be found here, which may account for the tone being lighter than the subject matter might suggest.

Over the course of those eight songs, the band forged what would soon be their trademarks: an absolutely insane hardcore-influenced vocal attack, precise and pummelling guitar work, riffs that were ugly but incessantly catchy and the greatest drumming one could ever imagine.
And that is why Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution was accompanied by Kid A-type hype.
Prior to the release of their first full-length album, Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution, BBTS had released a total of eight songs.
